Advanced Diagnostics Built for Working Equipment

Semi Truck & Heavy Equipment Diagnostics in Waco, TX

When a semi, dump truck, vocational truck or piece of heavy equipment goes down, you’re not just dealing with a repair bill — you’re dealing with downtime. We use professional diagnostic technology that communicates with the sophisticated electronics in today’s diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, aftertreatment systems and heavy equipment.

We go beyond pulling fault codes. We find what’s actually causing the problem.

Heavy-Duty Diagnostic Capabilities

Depending on the vehicle, engine, transmission, equipment and system, our advanced diagnostic capabilities include:

Capabilities vary by manufacturer, model, engine, controller and application.

DPF · DEF · SCR · Derates · Regen Problems

Aftertreatment Diagnostics

Modern diesel aftertreatment systems create some of the most frustrating problems for truck and equipment owners — and a forced regen isn’t always the answer. If an underlying sensor, injector, heater, pressure, temperature, DEF, SCR or engine-performance problem caused the system to fail, forcing a regeneration may not solve anything.

We perform forced regenerations, DPF and DEF diagnostics, SCR testing, ash resets, leak testing, heater testing, pressure testing, live data analysis and component testing. The objective isn’t to make the warning light disappear — it’s to determine why the aftertreatment system isn’t operating correctly.

Advanced Diesel Engine Diagnostics

Today’s electronically controlled diesel engines report hundreds of operating parameters. Knowing how to access that information is important — knowing how to interpret it is what matters.

Depending on the application: injector testing, fuel leakage testing, cylinder and misfire testing, fuel-system diagnostics, pressure testing, solenoid testing, turbocharger diagnostics, VGT calibration, sensor testing and live engine data analysis. By combining what the computer sees with real-world testing, we narrow down the failure before expensive parts are replaced.

Bi-Directional & Active Testing

Reading the computer is only the beginning

A scanner tells us what a machine is reporting. Bi-directional testing lets our technicians communicate back — commanding injectors, solenoids, valves, actuators, pumps, fans, heaters, turbo components and aftertreatment components through the electronic control system and monitoring how they respond.

Instead of replacing a component because a fault code points in its direction, we gather the evidence to determine whether the component itself, its wiring, another system or the controller is actually causing the problem.

Programming, Calibrations & Parameters

Replacing the failed component doesn’t always finish the repair. For supported applications we handle module programming, software updates, calibration files, component calibrations, VGT calibrations, system relearns, PTO and trip parameters, resets and other application-specific procedures.

Engine, Transmission, ABS & More

Advanced diagnostics shouldn’t stop at the engine. Our professional diagnostic resources cover:

Engine Systems

Electronic engine controls, fuel systems, injectors, turbocharger systems, sensors, actuators, aftertreatment systems, engine parameters and related components.

Transmission Systems

Electronic transmission diagnostics, fault analysis, live data, supported active tests, calibrations, relearns and configuration.

ABS & Electronic Braking

ABS and electronic braking fault diagnostics, wheel-speed sensor analysis, communication faults, live data and supported testing procedures.

Aftertreatment Systems

Advanced diagnostics for DPF, DEF and SCR systems — derates, regeneration problems, pressure and temperature faults, sensors and heaters.

Chassis & Electronic Systems

Module communication, vehicle networks, electrical faults, controllers, parameter configuration and other electronically controlled functions.

Heavy Equipment

Advanced electronic and engine diagnostics for supported construction, industrial and agricultural equipment.

Transport Refrigeration

Diagnostic capabilities for supported refrigerated transportation and temperature-control systems.

Heavy Equipment Diagnostics

Modern heavy equipment is every bit as electronically sophisticated as commercial trucks. For supported construction, industrial and agricultural equipment we access engine and machine fault information, monitor live operating data, perform supported active tests, complete calibrations and resets, and troubleshoot electronic and mechanical problems.

Derating, losing power, throwing fault codes, electrical gremlins, or just not operating right — our technicians have the diagnostic resources to dig deeper. Hydraulic problem instead? We build hoses too.

More Than a Generic Scan Tool

Today’s commercial vehicles and equipment require more than a basic code reader. Quality Mechanics has invested in professional diagnostic technology and service information covering a wide range of commercial truck, diesel engine, transmission, braking, aftertreatment and heavy-equipment systems — more information, more testing capability, and more ways to determine what’s actually happening.

Don’t Just Read the Code. Diagnose the Failure.

A fault code tells us where the computer detected a problem — not what part needs to be replaced. The actual cause could be a failed component, wiring problem, poor connection, sensor issue, mechanical failure, incorrect pressure, communication problem or calibration issue.

Read it. Test it. Verify it. Then repair it.

Downtime Costs Money

When your equipment makes money by moving, digging, hauling, lifting or working, every unnecessary hour it’s down matters. Parts swapping isn’t a diagnostic strategy. Find the problem. Verify the failure. Make the repair. Get you back to work.
